Arconaut McGee February 4, 2018 If you spend some time here, you would see that it is far too discordant in ideology to function as a cult. The conditions shown in this video, and a $300 rent don't really reflect a reality a person would typically find here. Amongst the population are a few 'factions' which are in an apparent war of subterfuge for control over the sites limited resources. Why residents: to present the site as a 'living' work of art, leading to more opportunities to exploit the 'Paolo Soleri' brand. Why factions? The type of people this place attracts, long term, are young artists and those that don't fit the mold of the 'real world'. They bring big dreams about leaving their mark on the world, and when your world is as small as Arcosanti such dreams seem within reach. It's not fair to paint everyone with the same brush, there are many here that live a practice of sustainability and have outgrown the more naive ideals. Fortunately there is a management team in place with the long term vision needed to take the brand and ideas into the next century. A handful of adults trying to keep a bunch of unfocused artists (i.e. parties, drugs) on track, perhaps. A cult, not really. amy H February 4, 2018 perfect place for a cult to start. Leah Phantomhive February 4, 2018 so, do the camera people stay there too or do they stay at a hotel and just come back everyday? crazyGills February 4, 2018 I think this was the place where you got what you both wanted 🙂 Niki got the space she needed, and Garrett was also able to meet new people.
